Industry Heads-up
The G-3 Process Air Filter System and the Ibis Central Vacuum System (CVS) for housekeeping make an excellent combination to address the NFPA 654 and ATEX safety guidelines. The G-3 is based on a dust containment design with all electrical devices located safely outside of the air stream. The CVS removes accumulated dust and fiber without the use of compressed air “blow down”. Contact ibis for more information on these two systems.
Ibis's Research & Development
Our R & D Department has completed the first prototype of a modified design pneumatic separator/distributor. The traditional curved screen has been replaced with a drum shaped screen which allows the addition of a fine mesh screen cover. The flat doffer has been eliminated with only a round doffer roll being required for product removal. These units are commonly used in applications for bulk fiber handling as well as scrap & trim separation.
Ibis Standard Air Measurement kit
Ibis International offers our customers this kit so that they have the capability to monitor, troubleshoot and diagnose their own process air systems. The basic kit consists of ( 0-.5" W.C. A/V MAGNEHELIC GAUGE, 0-2" W.C. A/V MAGNEHELLIC GAUGE, 0-40" W.C. MAGNEHELIC GAUGE, PITOT TUBE X 24" LONG WITH 3" SHORT INSERTION TIP, RUBBER TUBING 3/16" I.D. X 9FT, 2 AIR FITTINGS and 1/4" TEE ). If you are interested contact us through our “contact us tab”. There is a picture of the kit in the “media gallery/ photos/ miscellaneous” folder.
G-3 Process Air Filter System
For several years, Ibis has been offering different filter configurations. We have recently refined our engineering & design of one of these configurations under the name "G-3". The "G-3" utilizes the same dependable drum filter with Hydrex media followed by stationary filter walls. The "G-3" is a different concept in that it does not use Final Cartridge Filters. Instead there is a dual set of pocket and bag type filters as well as an optional HEPA filter. The reasoning behind this concept is for better compliance with current NFPA and ATEX requirements as well as a more favorable initial expense and maintenance cost.
When compared to a traditional baghouse type filter or the drum and cartridge filter, you save both space and money. Maybe you should consider the Ibis "G-3" as you study current risk assessment and planning for converting machines requiring large process air filter systems.
Hydrex Filter media
has been developed for those manufacturers of products with a high SAP content. SAP is an irregular shaped particle that tends to work its way into the drum filter media and begin to "depth load" the media severely shortening the media life. Each individual fiber of our Hydrex media has been coated with a "Teflon" like substance to help release the SAP particles for better nozzle cleaning and less depth loading. Some manufacturers have reported 4 to 8 times the media life with Hydrex over such standards as "Poodle" type medias. It is certainly worth a try to see if it makes a significant difference in your particular application. Contact Becky Eison of our Parts Department for further information and pricing.
Silicone secondary seal
for Ibis and other brand drum filters has been available for many years. Although these seals offer less frictional resistance than the traditional EPDM rubber seal, there has always been the issue of exorbitant cost and easy tearing. With a new manufacturing process we have greatly reduced the cost and have significantly increased the web thickness for much better reliability. Use of an Ibis Silicone Secondary Seal will reduce your cost in dry lubrication and down time for seal changes. . Contact Becky Eison of our Parts Department for further information and pricing.
